General Experience

Mr. Figilis was with SAI for over ten years as our Construction Administrator and Quality Control Officer. His meticulous attention to detail and years of experience enabled him to efficiently and effectively review shop drawings, field reports and test reports for irregularities and/or errors. He also performed site visits to many of our local projects.

After brief illnesses, he and his wife Irene passed away. The Eulogy was delivered at Congregation Micah, where he and Irene were members. Congregation Micah was one of his more recent projects of which he was very proud.

In addition to his technical expertise, Jack also brought his singular wit and wisdom to the firm, which affectionately became known as "Jackisms".

Mr. Figilis' extensive experience ranged from survey work and land acquisition through structural design to construction administration. He designed in every medium: wood, concrete, masonry, and steel. He served as designer, project manager, construction administrator as well as Owner's Representative. The list of project types for which he was responsible is extensive and includes renovations, large office complexes, multi-storied apartments, houses, office buildings, hospitals, schools, industrial buildings, parking structures, department stores, warehouses, flood control projects and dam construction. Mr. Figilis also taught Steel Design and Concrete Design at Tennessee State University from 1964 to 1971.
