Known for its expertise in seismic design and steel construction, Structural Affiliates International, Inc. (SAI) lives up to the reputation espoused in its name. Internationally SAI and its personnel have performed work in Belgium, Portugal, Cyprus, Nigeria, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela.

Currently, SAI is assisting the Malaysian construction industry in the use of structural steel and has established a major office in Kuala Lumpur. Perwaja Structures International, Sdn Bhd, formed in 1998 by SAI and two Malaysian partners, has already completed many significant, highly-visible projects under Dr. Ioannides' direction.

Because of its success in Malaysia, SAI's expertise is now being sought for similar involvement in South American countries such as Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.
